Drumblair
The attractive village of Gattonside is situated just across the River Tweed from Melrose (a fifteen minute walk via a pedestrian bridge over the river) and has two very good restaurants. The small town of Melrose has an excellent selection of small shops and eating establishments. It is renowned for its historic Abbey and is very convenient for visiting all the local attractions (e.g. Abbotsford House, Thirlestane Castle, Dryburgh Abbey etc.) and Edinburgh, Holy Island and the Seabird Centre at North Berwick are about an hour's drive. The area is very popular with walkers, cyclists (bicycles can be hired locally), golfers and fishermen.
